Equinox Landscape Construction Corporation is a family business, owned and operated by Patrick and Heather Picard (Contractors License #717135.) Since 1992, they have built their business upon the principals of quality, integrity and respect for their clients, their staff and the environment.
They are Accredited Business members of the Better Business Bureau and members of the Green Business Program of Marin County.
As members of the California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA), they have won awards for both their installations and maintenance of gardens.
Patrick Picard, Owner - Patrick is a Bay-Friendly Qualified Landscaper who is certified in Permaculture Design and Landscape Water Efficiency. Throughout the Bay Area he is known for pioneering ecological landscape practices and changing the way landscapers in the Bay Area do business. Patrick has spoken on sustainability panels for the North Coast Chapter of the California Landscape Contractors Association and the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, has taught classes for the Bay-Friendly Qualified Landscaper Program, and has led workshops in Sonoma County converting public lawns into neighborhood food forests.
Heather Picard, Owner - Heather is committed to making a difference in the world by educating the public about ecological landscaping and setting an example for the rest of the industry. With a Masters degree in Public Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelors degree in Mathematics/Economics from U.C. Santa Barbara, she manages several areas of Equinox including finances, marketing and human resources. She is responsible for the growth and integrity of the company.
Damien McAnany, Maintenance Operations Manager -
Damien is an ecologist committed to bringing the wisdom of permaculture into the mainstream. He is an ISA certified arborist (#8772-A) and permaculture designer who holds a Masters of Science in Environmental Education from the Audubon Expedition Institute at Lesley University. He is a trained permaculture teacher who has supervised groups of volunteers in Sonoma county transforming lawns into food forests and installing greywater systems. His love of permaculture has taken him all the way to the deserts of Jordan where he helped create passive rainwater harvesting systems and food forests. Damien brings his professionalism and deep understanding of eco-systems to Equinox and the clients we serve.
Serena Estes, Enhancement Specialist/Estate Manager - With over a decade in the landscaping industry and a fierce commitment to protect the earth, Serena Estes is an exceptional leader for sustainable landscape management. She is a Bay-Friendly Certified Landscaper who regularly volunteers with local organizations teaching workshops on ecological landscaping techniques and heading up teams of volunteers to transform public spaces into edible demonstration gardens. Serena is certified in Permaculture Design and has a B.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Anthropology. She is a wealth of information on sustainable practices and is constantly educating herself in the field. Several of her gardens have won awards from the California Landscape Contractors Association for excellence in maintenance.
Izac Norman, Project Manager/Estimator - Izac brings a wealth of knowledge to Equinox from years of studying and working with nature. Having grown up on a farm in Washington and studying anthropology in college, he understands the importance of ancient technology and natural systems as the basis for intelligent stewardship of the land. He has studied permaculture design at Regenerative Design Institute, been a student in Elaine Ingram's Soil Food Web course and worked at Fungi Perfecti cultivating mushrooms with renowned Paul Stamets. Izac was a member of the Worldwide Opportunity on Organic Farms (WOOF), volunteering his time with the Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA) in Hawaii. He believes, like we do, that permaculture is the science of the future.
Equinox Landscape supports the Marin Conservation League, the Sierra Club, the National Resource Defense Council and is a member of the Business Environmental Alliance (BEA) of Sonoma County and the Greenscapes Program introduced for landscapers by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
