Permaculture Rain Harvesting in Jenner
This coastal property in Jenner is a true embodiment of Permaculture design principles, is a testament to that philosophy. Our clients wanted a landscape that would work in harmony with nature, providing food, shelter for wildlife, and a resilient, beautiful outdoor living space.

The Design & Features
To bring this expansive vision to life, our landscape design and build team focused on creating a closed-loop system where every element serves multiple functions. The design seamlessly integrates food production, habitat creation, and intelligent water management. Key features of this project in Jenner include:
- Rain Harvesting & Water Management: A sophisticated rainwater harvesting system is at the heart of this design. Rainwater is efficiently directed from the roof tops of the main house and outbuildings into a series of swales and underground storage tanks. This system ensures that water is circulated and utilized throughout the gardens, significantly reducing the need for outside irrigation.
- Productive Edible Garden: The landscape is designed for a bountiful harvest. We installed raised vegetable beds and planted an orchard of over 30 fruit trees that will provide an ongoing source of food for the homeowners. This element highlights our commitment to creating landscapes that are both beautiful and a source of sustenance.
- Living Roof & Cob Pizza Oven: A striking living roof structure provides both an innovative aesthetic and a functional purpose. This feature gives shelter to a rustic cob pizza oven while its own green roof helps to manage stormwater and adds to the habitat garden.
- Habitat Creation & Biodiversity: The landscape is a thriving ecosystem. We planted California native plants that attract birds, bees, and butterflies. A series of hedgerows provides shelter and food for beneficial insects and creates homes for birds, transforming the property into a flourishing wildlife sanctuary.
The Outcome
The result is a truly unique landscape that showcases the power of Permaculture design. This Permaculture Rain Harvesting Landscape in Jenner is a testament to how intelligent, forward-thinking design can create a beautiful and functional space that is also deeply respectful of the environment. It is a garden that not only nourishes the body and soul of the homeowners but also contributes to the health of the local ecosystem.
