The “Cozy Wine Country Courtyard” project in Sebastopol is a perfect example of this. Our clients wanted to revitalize their backyard, creating a welcoming and intimate space for relaxation and casual dining. The goal was to design and build a series of interconnected zones that felt cohesive and inviting, all while reflecting the charming, rustic elegance of a wine country setting.
The Design & Features
To bring this vision to life, our landscape design and build team focused on a thoughtful layout and the use of materials that would blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. We meticulously planned every detail to maximize comfort and atmosphere, creating a space that feels both open and private. Key features of this project include:
- Multi-Functional Paved Patio: We designed a spacious and durable paved patio that serves as the central hub of the courtyard. This versatile hardscape provides a solid foundation for both a dining area and a separate seating space, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or an evening meal.
- Terraced Seating & Retaining Walls: To navigate the gentle slope of the yard, we designed and built a series of stacked stone retaining walls. These walls not only provide structural support but also create a charming, terraced landscape with a built-in seating area that adds both function and visual interest.
- Winding Garden Path: A graceful, curving garden path made of permeable aggregate winds through the landscape. This path connects the different areas of the yard, inviting exploration and creating a sense of journey as it meanders through newly planted garden beds.
- Raised Edible Garden Beds: For clients with a passion for gardening, we incorporated a set of rustic raised vegetable garden beds. Located in a sunny spot, these beds provide a dedicated space for cultivating fresh herbs and vegetables, adding an element of sustainable, hands-on enjoyment to the landscape.
The Outcome
